About Me

šŸ‘¤ Who is Me?

Hi, I’m Jeremy Burner—an educator, artist, and writer with a passion for helping students grow through creativity and hands-on learning. I’ve taught in both middle and high schools, covering Visual Arts, Biological Science, Technology Applications, Health, and more. I’m certified to teach Visual Arts (K–12) and Biological Science (6–12), and I have over 7 years of classroom experience.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Arts from Bowie State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I believe art and design are powerful tools not just for self-expression, but for learning critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. In my teaching, I aim to create an environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and inspired.

Outside the classroom, I’m a graphic designer and illustrator, working on commissions and freelance projects such as logos, branding, flyers, and business cards. I’ve also published two novels, created D&D modules, and built several original video games that combine my love for art and coding.

Full Biography

I was born in San Diego, California, and spent much of my childhood moving around the U.S. and abroad—including several years in Kenya, where my family was involved in missionary work. Living in different cultures shaped my perspective early on, teaching me resilience, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for the diversity of people and experiences.

Most of my education came through homeschooling. The only full year of traditional school I completed was 8th grade at West Nairobi School in Kenya—after that, it was back to homeschooling. My family had a system: my mom taught Science, History, Economics, and English; my dad handled Math and Bible; and I took charge of my own Art and Writing. That upbringing gave me the freedom to pursue creativity alongside academics and taught me to be a self-motivated learner.

I’ve always loved art, design, and storytelling, but my interest in teaching grew from my time working at Holcomb Valley Scout Reservation. Summers there were packed with climbing, running, hanging out with campers, and talking video games—just having fun outdoors all day. The campers kept me feeling like a kid myself, and I noticed something: most of the counselors were teachers. That clicked with me—teaching seemed like the perfect way to work with kids all year long, not just during the summer.

Of course, once I stepped into a classroom, I quickly realized that school and camp are two very different environments. But over time, I came to appreciate teaching for its own rewards: building long-term connections with students, helping them grow in confidence and skill, and creating an environment where creativity and critical thinking thrive.

Alongside my teaching career, I’ve worked as a graphic designer, writer, and game creator. I’ve published two novels, developed fully illustrated D&D modules, and built a variety of online games that combine original art and coding. My design work includes logos, branding, business cards, and marketing materials for small businesses and individuals.

Outside of work, I’m an Eagle Scout, climbing instructor, and former summer camp director. My Christian faith is central to everything I do, and I strive to make all of my public work clean, meaningful, and uplifting.

Today, I’m based in Idaho, continuing to pursue both education and creative projects. My website brings it all together—showcasing my art, writing, games, and reflections—and serves as a hub for anyone interested in collaborating, commissioning work, or just exploring what I’ve created.
